Losing a championship series, especially in seven games, is painful for both the athletes as well as the fans that support them.
Such was the case for the Los Angeles faithful, who saw their Dodgers fall to the Houston Astros at home in Game 7 of the World Series, Wednesday evening at the Chavez Ravine.
For the first time since winning it all in 1988, the Dodgers were back in the World Series and were one game away from hoisting the trophy yet again. Unfortunately, fate had other plans, as it was the Astros who left with their first title in franchise history.
For Pinoy Dodgers fan Eddie Tagle, who was fortunate enough to see the Dodgers' title run back in 1988, the hope was to see another title run this year...
...especially after spending over four thousand dollars, or over PhP 200,000 for three tickets.
After a strong season, Tagle thought that the Dodgers were on track to go all the way, and wanted to take his daughter so that she could experience the World Series.
"It's very special because they won 104 games, it’s the most in the league, and I thought we were going to win it this year," Tagle shared with ABS-CBN News' Steve Angeles. "I wanted to take my daughter so she can experience the World Series."
While the seventh game of a World Series is definitely an experience, it surely would have been exponentially sweeter had the home team Dodgers won the championship.
Tagle is still upbeat and is confident that the boys in Dodger blue will be back next season.
"Next year. We’ll be back." Tagle said.
