El Destructor loves the Philippines and we should love him back part 2
"Everything is perfect." --- El Destructor on the Philippines.
Sure, Eugene Phelps' second stint in the PBA is destined to be short-lived but just like the first time, El Destructor has been absolutely in love with the Philippines.
With Phoenix needing an import for the 2017 Commissioner's Cup, Phelps didn't think twice of coming back even if he just wrapped up a season in Taiwan.
If it was any other country, he said he wasn't probably going to take it. But it was the PBA that came calling so Eugene is here.
And it's worth it not just for him but for the Fuel Masters as Phoenix got on the board early in the mid-season conference by beating Blackwater in double-overtime, 118-116. El Destructor scored 53 points and grabbed 21 rebounds.
"I like the country. Honestly if it was like somewhere else, I would've probably told them no. But I love it here, it's like my second home," Phelps said on his brief stop to the Philippines before heading to Puerto Rico to play for the team that signed him three months ago.
"I love my teammates, my coaches, and the fans of course. It was worth it," he added.
While Phelps may be already on his way out after just one game, El Destructor is on track to make a true PBA return just in time for the 2017 Governors' Cup.
Before leaving though, Phelps can't stop saying nice things about the Philippines. For him, everything is great here except for one thing.
"I like the enviroment, the people, the weather, everything besides the traffic. Everything is perfect," Phelps said.
