"Bawal magkasakit" says Almazan as ROS enters crucial stretch of Govs' Cup schedule

As the Elasto Painters look ahead to another heavyweight bout against defending champion Ginebra, Almazan says now is not the time to lose steam.

ANTIPOLO --- After he was stretchered out of the arena following a big win over Star last Aug. 27 due to a bad case of dehydration, Raymond Almazan didn't particularly play well as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters lost the Beermen last week.

However, with an additional week of rest, Almazan is back in prime shape and it showed as ROS picked up a big bounce back win over Phoenix Wednesday at the Ynares Center here.

Anchoring the Elasto Painters from the middle, Almazan finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds as ROS rised to 5-3 in the standings, making the race for the top 4 a whole lot interesting as the Governors' Cup winds down to its most crucial stretch.

With ROS looking to lock up a playoff bonus, it was almost necessary for Almazan to come back 100 percent healthy.

"Ang sama ng laro ko sa San Miguel. Basta parang pagod na pagod ako. So pagdating ko sa practice mga one week before nung game na 'to, nagpahinga at nagpakondisyon talaga ako," he said on the matchup against Phoenix.

"Naka-recover na ako. Yung game against San Miguel yun yung turning point kasi coming from sakit tapos four days akong hindi nakapagensayo so pagbalik ko, sluggish pa. Dun ko talaga naramdaman sa San Miguel na pagod ako na tatlong baba lang wala na akong hangin," Almazan added.

As the Elasto Painters look ahead to another heavyweight bout against defending champion Ginebra, Almazan says now is not the time to lose steam.

"Ginebra kalaban namin next tapos may three games kami next week so mahirap yon. Bawal talaga magkasakit," he said.
