The time for the Rematch is now.

Defending champion Brgy. Ginebra will start its Governors' Cup title defense against no. 1 contender Meralco on Friday as both teams pick up where they left off from last year when the Gin Kings won an instant classic in six games.

Winning last season's title with "The Shot", the Gin Kings shoot for back-to-back championships with pretty much the same core led by import Justin Brownlee, LA Tenorio, and Japeth Aguilar.

However, Ginebra has a huge upgrade on deck with the fit-again Greg Slaughter finally playing in his first-ever PBA Finals.

On the other side, the Bolts are anxious to get another shot at the Gin Kings after being haunted for a whole year by Brownlee's championship-clinching triple at the buzzer.

Most of Meralco's core from last season are also back with Allen Durham somehow improving following a Best Import campaign in 2016.

The Bolts also received some big upgrades with Ranidel De Ocampo and Jared Dillinger healthy enough to play in the Finals.

The best-of-7 series for this season's last championship will unfold with Game 1 Friday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City. Tip off is at 7:00 p.m.
