Exactly three weeks before it takes on Japan on the road, Gilas Pilipinas is finally starting its official training camp for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

The Philippines will open camp Friday and head coach Chot Reyes has revealed that the national team's first practice will be closed to the public.

He also said that no members of the team will be allowed to release anything to the media at least for the time being.

Gilas Pilipinas' camp comes in the immediate aftermath of the issue surrounding the PBA and Commissioner Chito Narvasa.

With the recent issues, there were concerns about San Miguel players not showing up but a release by SMC assured that all their players, including those of Globalport and Kia, that are part of the national team pool will remain active with Gilas.

The Philippines will play its first game againts Japan on November 24 and will host Taipei three days later on November 27.
