At one point in his career, Mike Tyson was the man to beat.
The fighter who went by notable nicknames such as “Iron Mike” and “Kid Dynamite” held a 37-fight undefeated streak before being knocked out by heavy underdog James “Buster” Douglas in February 1990.
Today, the 49-year old Tyson remains visible in various prizefighting events, particularly in mixed martial arts. In 2015, one of the biggest upsets happened when former professional boxer Holly Holm knocked out Ronda Rousey, a fighter who was once deemed as the “most dominant athlete alive”.
“The Preacher’s Daughter” ended Rousey’s 12-fight undefeated streak by scoring a second round head kick knockout in their November 15th fight in Melbourne, Australia.
Like Tyson when he lost to Douglas, Rousey has currently kept herself distant from the mainstream attention. But this should not be the case, according to the former long-time heavyweight champion.
“We’re in the hurt business,” Tyson said in his recent appearance on CONAN. “I don’t care if you’re the king of the hurt business, we’re in the business where we get hurt.”
“She has got to be seen,” he continued. “Come out of the house, whatever. I’ve seen she’s been around. Show your face. You’re human.”
