Reigning IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas will be getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance as he'll be fighting on the undercard of upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn fight in Brisbane, Australia this July 2nd.
Ancajas will be putting his title up on the line against Japan's Teiru Kinoshita.
“Masaya po, kasi napakalaking bagay na mapabilang sa undercard ni sir Manny po. Bihira lang po iyong ganung pagkakataon,” Ancajas said, via an interview with Dennis Gasgonia of ABS-CBN News.
There's an added sense of motivation for the 25-year old Davaeño, as he'll be fighting on the undercard of his 'boss', being that Ancajas is signed to Pacquiao's MP Promotions banner.
"Kailangan ko po talagang maidepensa ang crown ko po,” said Ancajas.
It won't be an easy out for the Pinoy however, as he'll be taking on a former world title contender in Kinoshita. The Osaka-native battled current WBO world bantamweight champion Zolani Tete for the vacant IBF super flyweight championship back in 2014, losing via unanimous decision. Since then, Kinoshita has racked up six straight wins, five coming via knockout.
Ancajas has built quite an impressive resume for himself as well.
Currently riding a 13-fight winning streak, Ancajas decisioned previously unbeaten McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico to become the IBF champion.
He defended the belt successfully against Jose Alfredo Rodriguez of Mexico via seventh round stoppage in Macau last January.
"Magiging magandang laban ito. Matangkad sa'kin itong Hapon, mga 5'7'',” said Ancajas.
