An all-Filipino IBF junior-bantamweight title eliminator bout has been added to Pinoy Pride 42 in Cebu this coming September.
As initially reported by Sun Star Cebu, ALA Boxing chairman Michael Aldeguer announced that former IBF World Flyweight Champion Johnriel "Quadro Alas" Casimero will be taking on ALA Boxing's Jonas "Zorro" Sultan for the right to become the mandatory challenger to reigning IBF 115-pound title holder Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas, also from the Philippines.
The 27-year old Casimero (24-3, 15 KO) defeated Thailand's Amnat Ruenroeng back in 2016 to become the IBF's new 112-pound title holder and even defend the championship last December before deciding to move up to super flyweight. In his 115-pound debut, the Ormoc, Leyte native decisioned Jecker Buhawe.
One of ALA Boxing's impressive prospects, the 25-year old Sultan (13-3, 9 KO) is the reigning IBF Inter-Continental super-flyweight champion, defeating Makazole Tete by TKO in Africa for the title, before defending it against former world champion Sonny Boy Jaro back in May.
Casimero is riding a three-fight winning streak, while Sultan has won his last four bouts.
Reigning IBF super-flyweight king Ancajas has a 27-1-1 professional record with 18 wins coming via knockout. In his last bout, he dominated Japan's Teiru Kinoshita in Australia in his first title defense.
This bout will likely serve as the co-headliner for the IBF World Light Flyweight title bout between the Philippines' Milan "El Metodico" Melindo and South Africa's Hekkie "The Hexecutioner" Budler.
Pinoy Pride 42 takes place on Saturday, September 16th at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu.
