Amani Aguinaldo and Global Cebu FC were held to a draw against Singapore's Home United, Tuesday evening
Filipino football club Global Cebu FC settled for a 2-2 draw Tuesday evening in the first leg of their Zonal Semifinals matchup against Singapore's Hom United at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Darryl Roberts scored early for the home team, putting Global Cebu ahead 15 minutes into the match.
Before the half however, the Singaporean visitors managed to pull even courtesy of a 34th minute goal by Adam Swandi.
The Pinoys regained the lead in the second half, with defender Amani Aguinaldo converting off a set piece in the 54-minute mark of the match.
Late in the second half, the hosts found themselves down one man after Aguinaldo accumulated two yellow cards in a five minute stretch resulting, in an ejection.
While it looked like Global were on their way to securing the important win with the lead heading into injury time, Home United's Stipe Plazibat found a crucial equalizer for the visitors, knocking in a header off a corner kick in in the fifth minute of injury time, ending the match on a stalemate.
The pressure now falls on Global Cebu FC's shoulders, as they travel to Singapore for the second leg of the Zonal semifinals on May 30th.
