The Philippine U15 girls' team is headed for the AFF U15 Girls Championships Final
The Philippine under-15 girls team secured a spot in the AFF U15 Girls Championships after mounting a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Myanmar in the semifinals, Thursday evening in Vientiane, Laos.
Myria Skye Garcia scored first, giving the Pinays a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.
Myanmar's Su Pyae Pyae singlehandedly put Myanmar back on top in the second half however, converting in the 47th and 52nd minutes for the 2-1 lead.
It didn't take too long for Viviana Cera to respond however, helping the Philippines pull even five minutes later.
Garcia completed her brace in the 76th minute to complete the comeback and put the Philippines back on top. Her goal proved to be the difference-maker as the Philippines held on for the 3-2 victory.
"We told the girls to bounce back, stay composed, and just play our game. It was a matter of wanting it more. The girls did a great job, they didn't give up and bounced back after being down 2-1." said head coach Marielle Benitez, who touched on the girls' heart and desire to get the win.
Benitez and the girls now face Thailand in the Finals on Saturday. The Thais dismantled Cambodia, 6-0 in the semifinals.
"We know it will be a tough match. We are confident with our preparation and we just need to remind the girls to play our game and of course take note of Thailand's key players." Benitez said ahead of the matchup.
