Hofmann 'in for a rude awakening', says challenger Sothmann
"The crowd has always been hating me, and I’m fine with that, and I think I perform better the more that the crowd dislikes me." - URCC middleweight title challenger Robert Sothmann

Oozing confidence during the official weigh-ins Friday, title challenger Roberth Sothmann is ready to take the fight to reigning and defending middleweight champion Chris Hofmann, and the Canadian promises that fans can look forward to an exciting affair at URCC XXX.

Coming off a third-round TKO win in China, Sothmann plans to do the same when the cage doors close behind him on Saturday, August 12th.

"I’ve never left anything to the judges, I think thats one of the main reasons why people should look forward to my fights, because nothing’s going to the judges. They can take the night off."

What's more, Sothmann believes that he has what it takes to overwhelm the URCC's only two-division world champion.

"I’m bigger. He’s gonna find out that I’m stronger, and he’s gonna find out that I’m very technical,"

Touching on the champion's previous conquests, Sothmann says that Hofmann hasn't seen too much in his MMA career yet.

"There’s a lot of things that his previous opponents have either shown or have been able to show, so he’s in for a rude awakening."

Having spent all of his fighting career around Asia, fighting in hostile territory is nothing new to the Ottawa, Canada native, who will face a partisan Araneta Coliseum crowd who'll be rooting for the Fil-Swiss champion.

"It’s a non-factor." Sothmann said of the pro-Pinoy crowd. "I’ve never fought in front of a hometown crowd in my life. I’ve been fighting in Asia, my entire fight career is in Asia."

"The crowd has always been hating me, and I’m fine with that, and I think I perform better the more that the crowd dislikes me." Sothmann added.
