Carino moves south, takes Lady Altas coaching job
Macky Carino will assume the position as coach of the Perpetual Help Lady Altas.
Almost a month after stepping down as head coach of College of St. Benilde, Macky Carino found a new home in Las Pinas.
The mentor who brought the Lady Blazers to a breakthrough NCAA crown two years ago, has been officially named as coach of former champion Perpetual Help Lady Altas weeks after leaving the Taft-based squad.
Carino, assistant of Sammy Acaylar in the men’s national team, will also serve as Perpetual’s executive volleyball director.
He succeeded long time Lady Altas mentor Acaylar, who was promoted as Perpetual’s athletic director, two months before the start of the 93rd NCAA volleyball competition set to open shop on January 4.
Acaylar will remain as Perpetual’s men’s volley coach.
Arnold Laniog, who steered CSB’s men’s squad to its first volleyball title last year, will serve as the Lady Blazers’ interim coach.
