Team Lakay young gun Danny Kingad off ONE card in Kuala Lumpur
Team Lakay's Danny Kingad won't be fighting in Kuala Lumpur.
Team Lakay's Danny Kingad can't seem to catch a break.
The 21-year old ONE Championship flyweight contender was set to make his international debut against China's Hexigetu at ONE's inaugural trip to Surabaya, Indonesia last July 29th, but after the event's cancellation, Kingad and Hexigetu were rescheduled for the upcoming Quest for Greatness card in Kuala Lumpur on August 18th.
Well as it turns out, Kingad will have to wait a bit longer to get back in action, as it his fight with Hexigetu has been cancelled.
According to Team Lakay head coach and manager Mark Sangiao, something from Hexigetu's camp led to the cancellation of the bout.
Kingad is currently perfect in his MMA career with six wins, three of them coming under the ONE Championship banner. In his last outing, Kingad survived a second-round submission scare to eke out a unanimous decision win over Malaysian Muhammad Aiman in Manila.
The Philippines will still have a sizeable contingent when the ONE Championship cage heads back to Malaysia, as Kingad's Team Lakay seniors Kevin Belingon and Edward Kelly are set see action, with Belingon taking on Fil-Australian Reece McLaren in a title eliminator bout, while Kelly meets American Emilio Urrutia in the preliminaries.
Catalan brothers Robin and Rene are also scheduled to see action, taking on former champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke and Buhuoyouga respectively.
