Gretchen Ho, Kapamilya bikers ride for a good cause
In line with the tenth anniversary of ABS-CBN's Bayan Mo, Ipatrol Mo (BMPM), bike ride for charity was organized, in partnership with Tahanang Walang Hagdan.
A 10-kilometer bikeathon from the Quezon City Memorial Circle to ABS-CBN and back was organized, open to all Bayan Patrollers. The registration fee: ten plastic bottles that will greatly help the people at Tahanang Walang Hagdan.
The event, which took place on National Heroes Day, saw over 500 Bayan Patrollers take a 10-kilometer bike ride for a good cause.
Among the bikers was none other than former Ateneo Lady Eagle and ABS-CBN anchor Gretchen Ho, who says she was happy to be able to participate in her first bike event and do it for charity.
"First time ko sumali sa isang bike event, so malaking bagay sa akin na natapos ko yung 10K, malaking bagay din sa akin na marami akong kasama na parang ang saya-saya nila kasama, lahat sila good vibes, and we’re all so happy doing this because we know na hindi lang para sa sarili eh, para sa mga kasama natin na PWD." Gretchen told ABS-CBN Sports. "Ang sarap dahil yung first bike event ko, I did it for someone else."
Gretchen was in fact, the first one to cross the finish line.
For Gretchen, BMPM's cause was a source of good vibes, given such a simple form of help could go a long way for our PWD Kapamilyas.
Tayo, kaming mga bikers, encouraged to bring ten bottles each para maka-sali.
Gretchen added.
The Bayan Patrollers weren't the only ones who participated in the 10-kilometer ride. In fact, a few of our Kapamilyas from Tahanang Walang Hagdan also burned rubber that day. One of them is Ador Agarin, who says he had fun finishing the long ride.
Masaya kaming napag-papraktisan din namin yung ginagawa namin."
Ador has been joining fun runs and rides for over ten years now, and aside from racing he's also practicing powerlifting, and hopes to be able to land a spot in the 2019 ASEAN Para Games.
