UST demolishes Adamson for back-to-back victories
Conrado Dimacali (7) was one of four UST players to score in their big win over Adamson.

Four Growling Tigers found the back of the net, as University of Santo Tomas picked apart Adamson University, 4-1, to pick up back-to-back wins in UAAP Season 79 men's football action, Sunday evening at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

A late first half goal from Renz Gumban in the 40th minute gave the Growling Tigers an early advantage, but it was in the second half that the Espanya-based side began to do work.

70 minutes in, Marvin Bricenio doubled the UST advantage off an assist from AJ Pasion.

Eight minutes later, UST captain Darryl Regala would make it a seemingly insurmountable 3-0 lead with less a little over ten minutes remaining.

Conrado Dimacali put to rest any hope of an Adamson rally, blasting one from way outside the penalty box for a 4-0 cushion in the 82nd minute.

Adamson managed to avoid a shutout, with Kim Bardaje pulling one back in the 87th minute.

"Good goals, not 'tsamba' goals, especially yung kay Dimacali tsaka yung first goal," UST head coach Marjo Allado said after the match. "The second half was better than the first half, kasi mas marami kaming chances nung second half."

After his team managed four conversions in the match, Allado touched on the importance of the number of goals scored, considering that UST, NU, and De La Salle are in a tight race for the fourth seed.

"Pinaka-importante yung three points, at saka yung number of goals scored, kasi sa fourth place ngayon, nag-hahabulan kami sa goals eh, so baka dadating yung time na dun i-bebase sa goal difference."

With the win, UST improves to four wins, one draw, four losses for 13 points. They move into solo fourth place.

Adamson, on the other hand, drops to one win and seven losses for three points.
