Adamson annexes 7th straight UAAP softball crown
The Lady Falcons annexed their 16th championship over, sweeping the best-of-three series, 2-0.

Adamson University remained on top of the softball world as it extended its domination to seven years with a 3-1 conquest of University of Santo Tomas at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium on Friday.

The Lady Falcons annexed their 16th championship over, sweeping the best-of-three series, 2-0.

Despite losing ace pitcher Mary Ann Antolihao to a season-ending ACL injury, the Tigresses valiantly fought hard with Mallows Garde leading the fight, but the Lady Falcons showed tremendous toughness to prevail.

"Fighter yang UST. Nakita ninyo naman from last year, dikit din yan, na-force pa sa Game 3," said Adamson University coach Ana Santiago. "If you want to win, you don't want to rely on one person. Dapat mag-rely kayo as a whole. Yun ang ini-explain ko sa mga players."

True enough, not only were the Lady Falcons, who once won 73 consecutive games, tested by the Tigresses, but by the entire field who were aching to unseat them from the throne.

"Kami iniisip namin na malakas lahat ang kalaban," said Santiago, who won her 10th title as a coach.

Angelie Ursabia was solid in her final year for Adamson, winning the season MVP honors aside from bagging the Most Home Runs and Best Slugger awards, while Lyca Basa, who struck out eight batters in the series-clinching win, was named the Finals MVP.

After trailing by two runs, the Tigresses managed to cut the deficit to one in the bottom fourth with a CJ Roa RBI that sent pinch runner Krystal Tonquin home.

The Lady Falcons then restored the two-run lead after Dely Covarrubias connected on a RBI single that sent Ursabia home in the top of the seventh.

Basa then took charge in the bottom seventh to seal te deal for Adamson University.

Also winning awards for the Lady Falcons were Flor Pabiania, who had the Most RBIs with 18, and Krisha Cantor, who had the Most Stolen Bases with five.
