Definitely mayroong changes -- Mamon on his UST roster for Season 80
Walang (ga-graduate) pero definitely mayroong changes -- UST coach Odjie Mamon
University of Sto. Tomas head coach Odjie Mamon will be assessing the performance of the Tigers for the 79th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament, stressing that nobody’s safe in his current lineup.
The Tigers finished fourth as UST got the boot in the stepladder semifinals Wednesday against Far Eastern University, 22-25, 25-27, 18-25, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
No player on Mamon’s current roster will graduate but his players will need to perform well in their training camp to be able to suit up for Season 80.
“Walang (ga-graduate) pero definitely mayroong changes kasi for me it’s not the optimal composition of the team eh,” he said after his squad absorbed its third straight loss against the Tamaraws this season.
“Yes (walang safe sa lineup), kasi mayroon akong nasa residency apat,” Mamon added. “Isang libero, isang outside, isang middle at isang setter.”
The lanky mentor said that the Tigers would immediately start their build up for the next season starting with his performance assessment among his wards.
“Mayroon (akong gagawing assessment) sa training lalo itong summer session naming. Tapos may training camp and high performance camp,” he said.
Mamon will also enter a team in the Premier Volleyball League’s next conference.
“Nakiusap ako kay Mr. Tonyboy Liao na i-invite ang UST sa PVL,” he said.
“Definitely 'yung 14 na yan naka-lineup yan plus yung apat. Magiging part din ‘yan ng assessment ko sa kanila.”
