UP coach Yee calling it quits?

University of the Philippines women’s volleyball team head coach Jerry Yee is calling it quits after four seasons with the Lady Maroons.

Yee posted on his Facebook account his season-by-season UAAP win-loss records with the Diliman-based squad before announcing his decision to leave the team.

Yee has yet to make an official statement regarding his decision.

The mentor, who is also the head coach of Hope Christian School, came in as a replacement for Jarod Hubalde in Season 76 and helped improve the Lady Maroons’ volleyball program.

He brought in blue chip recruits including Diana Carlos and Isa Molde in Season 78 where UP ended a 13-year Final Four drought. Molde eventually won the season’s rookie of the year award.

UP in Season 79 came in as one of the top title contenders and backed it up with four straight wins including an upset against eventual champion De La Salle Universty. But the Lady Maroons stumbled midway in the season and lost top libero Pia Gaiser to a season-ending knee injury.

UP finished the season at fifth spot with a 7-7 record.

Yee handled the Perlas Spikers in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

Yee and the Lady Maroons are currently competing in the PVL Open Conference but are yet to win a match after three outings. UP will take on Adamson on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
