Ateneo de Manila University carved out a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over De La Salle University to claim the last semifinals berth in the UAAP Season 80 men's badminton playoff Saturday.
The Blue Eagles turned to the doubles pair of Carlo Remo and Keoni Asuncion and deciding singles player Clarence Filart to survive, while ending the Green Shuttlers' season.
Up next for Ateneo is the first step-ladder semis duel with No. 3 University of Santo Tomas at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall.

Filart delivered the clincher for Ateneo with a 14-21, 21-15, 21-17 victory over Andrew Pineda.
De La Salle won two of the first three matches, as Glenn Camillo defeated Remo, 21-17, 21-18, in the second singles and Cayel Pajarillo and Jerrickson Oba-ob prevailed in the first doubles over Filart and Miguel Paña, 21-16, 21-10, for the Taft-based shuttlers to grab the upper hand before crumbling.
