Bundit status up in the air
Bundit is currently on a one week leave.

Tai Bundit could be heading out as head coach of the Ateneo de Manila University pending the final talks with the team's management.

According to reports, the Thai mentor is calling it quits after four seasons with the Lady Eagles.

The Thai mentor cited that he wanted to spend more time with his family as his main reason why he decided to leave his post as mentor of the Lady Eagles with less than four months before the 80th UAAP women's volleyball tournament unwraps.

But team manager Tony Boy Liao in a text message said that Bundit's status is yet to be decided after his meeting with Ateneo president Fr. Jett Villarin.

"After our meeting on Monday with Fr. Jett, we will know his status," according to Liao.

Bundit is currently on a one week leave.

Bundit replaced Roger Gorayeb as Ateneo coach in 2013, bringing in a new system that gave the Katipunan-based squad tremendous success.

In his first year, Bundit steered the Lady Eagles led by Alyssa Valdez, Denden Lazaro and Jia Morado to a breakthrough title with an amazing championship run against a thrice-to-beat De La Salle University side.

Bundit's signature 'happy, happy' and heartstrong mantra turned Ateneo to a powerhouse team highlighted by a historic Season 77 sweep.

The Lady Eagles again advanced into the Finals in the next two seasons - the team's sixth straight - but lost both times against the the Lady Spikers.

Ateneo after Season 79 lost top setter Jia Morado, who decided to forego her last playing year, hitter Michelle Morente transferred to DLSU while Kim Gequillana sustained an ACL injury during PVL Collegiate Conference.
