Jack Danielle Animam keeps MVP in NU for fourth year in a row
DYNASTY. Not only has NU won the last three championships, it also boasts of winning the last four MVP awards.
Just as National University is going straight to the Finals for the fourth year in a row, a Lady Bulldog is set to be named MVP for the fourth year in a row.
NU big Jack Danielle Animam has emerged as the top individual player in the UAAP 80 Women’s Basketball Tournament after ending the elimination round with 77.26 Statistical Points (SPs).
The third-year player has been one of the best players in rebounds and blocks while also carrying part of the scoring load for her team.
Along with Rhena Itesi and Ria Nabalan, Animam has powered NU into chugging along even after the graduation of three-time MVP Afril Bernardino.
The Lady Bulldogs have yet again swept the elimination round and have yet again seized an outright berth into the Finals. There, they try for a fourth consecutive championship.
Congolese center Itesi ranked third in the MVP race with 71.14 SPs while do-it-all guard Nabalan placed fourth with 69.00 SPs.
The runner-up for MVP hails from NU’s closest competitor in the tournament.
Love Sto. Domingo of University of the East had 75.64 SPs to her name at the end of eliminations.
The all-around forward has continued her brilliant play in her fourth year. She and the Lady Warriors are the second-seed and have a twice-to-beat advantage in the stepladder playoffs for the right to face NU in the Finals.
Completing the top five individual players is University of Sto. Tomas’ Sai Larosa who had 61.00 SPs.
