For RogieSeptember 09, 2017
With the memory of fallen brother Rogie Maglinas, who succumbed to cancer months prior, weighing heavy on their hearts and minds, the members of the men’s and women’s football teams of the University of the Philippines went into UAAP Season 78 with a resounding battle cry: For Rogie!
The men’s team, led by season MVP and national team call-up Daniel Gadia, turned in another impressive season and soundly defeated Katipunan rivals Ateneo de Manila in the finals to end a three-year men’s football title drought.
More impressive however was the women’s team. Led by season MVP Molly Manalansan, the second-seeded Lady Maroons stunned the erstwhile unbeaten De La Salle Lady Archers in the finals to claim their first ever women’s football championship.
UAAP Season 78 was definitely a dream season for the UP Men’s and Women’s football teams, and they did it all For Rogie.
