Former Ateneo Lady Eagle Alyssa Valdez was one of the 25 ladies called up for the womens' national volleyball team pool for the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia later this year.
While currenty in Thailand, playing for Thai league team 3BB Nakkornnont, Valdez was able to share her sentiments on being selected in the national team pool.
"I'm blessed to be selected to the national team again," said Valdez, who's suited up for the Philippines on more than one occasion in the past, including stints in the 2015 SEA Games and the 2015 Asian Volleyball Confederation U-23 championships in Manila. "It's always been an honor to represent the country and I hope to make the final cut. "
Valdez, a two-time UAAP champion and three-time UAAP MVP, joined the likes of fellow volleyball superstars such as Mika Reyes, Dennise Lazaro, Rachel Ann Daquis, and Jaja Santiago to name a few.
"I'm so thankful to be part of this team, alongside the experienced, skilled, talented and hardworking players. We're hoping for your prayers and support!"
Other names in the 25-woman pool include former Ateneo's Kat Tolentino and Maddie Madayag and DLSU's Kim Fajardo and Dawn Macandili.
