Who's that lucky kid that KYK hugged?
BINAN CITY, Laguna –-- Wonder who’s the lucky boy who gave Kim Yeonkoung a bouquet of flower and received a warm hug and a sweet smile from the Korean star?
He’s four-year-old Ushton James Castellano.
Even at a young age, the kid from Muntinlpa knows a lot about volleyball.
So when the country hosted the 19th AVC Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship, Ushton and his mom Belinda made sure that they’ll be there to witness the finest volleybelles in the continent in action.
“We never missed a game since Day 1,” said mommy Belinda, who towed her son to watch the games both at the Alonte Sports Arena and at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, the other game venue of the tournament.
“Ako talaga ang may gusto kay Kim. Sini-search ko siya sa Google hanggang sa makita na lang ni Ushton,” she added.
The love for the sport runs in the blood as mommy Belinda, who was a former volleyball player for Colegio de San Agustin in Bacolod.
“I played in Palarong Pambansa back in the 1980's,” mommy Belinda revealed.
When KYK and South Korea played China in the bronze medal match Thursday, mommy Belinda didn’t let the opportunity to give her favorite player a little gift.
Ushton James Castellano is a big fan of KYK.
They bought a bouquet of flowers. Ushton James tried to give KYK the flowers before the match but the Korean star asked him to give it to her later.
“Nalungkot nga siya (Ushton James) noong hindi kami nakapasok sa dugout hinarangan kasi kami ng bouncers,” said mommy Belinda. “Eh sabi ni Kim after the game daw kaya inabangan naming.”
And then came that treasured moment that Ushton James won’t ever forget.
Asked about what he likes about KYK, he snappily answered: “She’s pretty.”
Nice one, kid!
