Pons using BVR to prepare for Lady Tams' UAAP comeback
Bernadeth Pons and Kyle Atienza are making their respectice debuts in the Beach Volleyball on Tour in Albay this weekend and they're using this latest leg to fastrack their improvement before the premier collegiate league in the country opens.

After losing the UAAP Season 79 women's beach volleyball championship, let's just say that the FEU Lady Tamaraws are already in the middle of their long preparation for UAAP Season 80.

Far Eastern University will host this season.

Bernadeth Pons and Kyle Atienza are making their respectice debuts in the Beach Volleyball on Tour in Albay this weekend and they're using this latest leg to fastrack their improvement before the premier collegiate league in the country opens.

"For BVR Games, ine-expect namin na magiging maganda yung lahat ng laban para mas ma-challenge pa kami," Pons said.

"For preparation na din sa UAAP," she added.

Last season, FEU lost to UST in three games for the UAAP women's beach volleyball title. That UST team featured Cherry Rondina, who earlier won BVR Ilocos Norte with Jinggay Bangad.

Ironically, Pons was teammates with Rondia as the two won the 2017 Superliga beach volleyball championship.

Pons and Atienza's BVR stint is just the latest of their ongoing training for the UAAP.

"Training kami everyday and syempre nagpapa-condition like natutulog ng maaga," Pons said.

"Kasi we need to be physically and mentally prepared when it comes to training and competition para iwas din sa injury," she added.

Catch BVR on Tour Albay at Legazpi Boulevard until August 19.
