A new game begins!

A brand new game begins this October, as ABS-CBN S+A’s flagship program will be debuting a fresh new look and an exciting new format.

Since 2014, The Score has been brining the latest in sports news to the Filipino sports fan all over the Philippines.

Veteran sports commentator and analyst Mico Halili will be coming in as The Score’s new main anchor, as the show promises to be bigger, better, and bolder, offering a variety of sports content and experiences to FIlipino sports fans throughout the week.

"Mico has always been about being ahead of the game, and that is one of the reasons we got him back to lead the digital strategy of ABS-CBN Sports. It was probably fate that we are in need of a new face to lead 'The Score' and his combination of experience as an anchor, credibility as a sports analyst, and digital savvy make him the unanimous choice for the new post," said S+A channel head Vince Rodriguez.

The Score will be going live every weekday on the ABS-CBN Sports Youtube channel and the ABS-CBN Sports Facebook account at 1:00 PM, while the primetime TV airing will be at 6:00 PM on ABS-CBN S+A and ABS-CBN S+A HD.

"We're very excited to bring 'The Score' further ot the digital spehre, where we know our audiences love to watch their favorite teams and players while interacting with fellow sports fans. We are also airing it on television on primetime ro reach more Filipinos, especially the youth, who look up to our athletes as role models and find inspiration in their journey to greatness," said ABS-CBN Integrated Sports head Dino Laurena.

Joining the team alongside Mico Halili will be some of Philippine sports’ biggest names, namely Gretchen Ho, Michele Gumabao, Allan Caidic, Beau Belga, Joe DeVance, Jett Manuel, Jai Reyes, LA Tenorio and Jimmy Alapag just to name a few.

These stars in their respective fields will be bringing their own charm, wit, and expertise to show.

“Wala naman siguro ang popularity ng isang sport kung wala ang supporters natin, so siguro it’s just our way of giving back, me representing the whole volleyball community, and us also wanting to share a little bit more of ourselves.” shared Gumabao.

A multi-time UAAP champion and PVL champion, Gumabao has established herself as one of the biggest names in Philippine volleyball.

“I always believe na natututo ka pag tinitignan mo yung iba, the success, the mistakes, and the things that they do, right or wrong, matututo ka din as a player. So siguro it’s different, kasi hindi naman ikaw yung pinag-uusapan ng lahat, hindi kung paano ka maglaro.” she added.

Believing that he was born to be on TV screens, nine-time PBA champion Joe DeVance is nothing short of excited to be on the other end of the interview as part of the Sports Squad.

“I’m very excited, I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be here, and I’m looking forward to seeing what will happen.”

“I kinda see it as basically having a scouting report, just on TV and more as a conversation. We do scouting reports all the time, so we’re basically gonna be up here talking scouting reports.” DeVance added.

A champion in the UAAP and a champion in the international stage, Paolo Javelona is ready to showcase his talents on a very different stage.

“It’s gonna be fun, there’s gonna be a lot of action during the shows.” Javelona shared, “Bago ako dito, so it’s a new thing for me to step out of my comfort zone, so being with these guys, sharing our knowledge, siguro yun yung magbabago. For me, I’ll learn a lot, so yun siguro positive thing for me that I’m here.”

Finally, PBA veteran Beau Belga believes that he brings the right balance of “naughty” in what he calls a group of “nice” people.

“Nung una, tinawagan ako, sabi ko ‘seryoso ba itong ABS-CBN na ‘to, ako kinukuha?’. Nung nakita ko yung lineup ng mga kasama, sabi ko tama lang, kasi nadun yung mga mababait, sasamahan mo ng salbahe, magiging maayos yung concept ng programa.” he said, jokingly.

The ten-year PBA veteran and two-time champion sees his stint on The Score as an opportunity to learn.

“Para sa akin, para kang mag-aaral ulit, kasi honestly ang pinapanood ko lang ay mga video ng kalaban namin sa PBA. This time, mag-aaral ka, papanoorin mo yung UAAP, NCAA, volleyball, so talagang dito, para kang balik-aral. Lahat aaralin mo.”
