In a Mother's Day game that saw the De La Salle Green Archers looking close to completing a 28-point blowout of the University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers in the FilOil Preseason tournament at the Flying V Centre in San Juan, things got ugly.
The Archers were ahead, 109-81 with 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, then tempers flared, resulting in a scuffle that broke out at half court, with players from both squads rushing to the court.
“I told the referees already na if you don’t control the game, magsusuntukan ‘yang mga ‘yan kasi maraming mga extra motion na hindi tinatawag,” DLSU head coach Aldin Ayo said, “Everytime you play, yung mga ginagawa dapat within the rules of the game of basketball.”
The near-brawl saw multiple ejections in its wake.Growling Tiger Marvin Lee and Green Archer Ramil Tero are both slapped with one-game suspensions for the scuffle.
