Terrence Romeo and Globalport might be headed to a basketball divorce.
In a report by Musong Castillo of The Philippine Daily Inquirer on Tuesday, it appears that the high-scoring Batang Pier guard is on the trading block.
Castillo cited a source that says Globalport has engaged with the Meralco Bolts for a possible trade with the Batang Pier looking at Chris Newsome and Baser Amer in exchange for Romeo.
However, head coach Norman Black is hesitant to trade away Newsome, one of his former players at Ateneo De Manila University in the UAAP.
Aside from Meralco, TNT has been involved with Globalport regarding a possible Romeo trade but the KaTropa are still hoping that Mo Tautuaa actually plays like a number one pick.
Romeo reportedly asked to be traded during the Commissioner's Cup.
Despite coming off another impressive individual season by averaging a league-high 23.3 points on top of 3.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists, Romeo's Globalport squad only made little noise in the grand scheme of things.
Tha Batang Pier's best conference was in the Philippine Cup where behind Romeo's 28.2 points per game, the team made it to the quarterfinals only to getr swept by TNT, 2-0.
Globalport made the quarters again in the Commissioner's Cup as the 8th seed but got dominated by no. 1 Ginebra. In the Governors' Cup, the Batang Pier missed the playoffs altogether.
