June Mar Fajardo is a handful for most PBA teams.
Brgy. Ginebra was supposed to be the one that should match up well with the Kraken with its imposing frontline led by Greg Slaughter.
But Greg Slaughter is still out indefinitely with an ankle injury and it's proving to be tough for the Gin Kings to contain the reigning four-time league MVP.
In Game 3 of their semifinals series Tuesday, Fajardo went for 23 points, 18 in the second half, on top of 16 rebounds.
Fortunately for the barangay, they were able to pull through with a win, cutting their series deficit in half, 1-2.
That doesn't mean they've solde their June Mar problem though.
"We're throwing everything at June Mar, I mean, our kitchen sink, whatever. Our toilets," Ginebra head coach Tim Cone said.
"We're throwing everything at him and he finds a way, it's amazing. He's an amazing player. It's not just that he's good, is just that he's so intelligent. His basketball IQ is just off the charts," he added.
Despite June Mar still being a problem, Cone likes the way his team fought in the must-win Game 3.
Now he hopes the Gin Kings can continue to momentum as they hope to further extend this series.
"Our guys I thought played a special game tonight so hopefully we can carry over," Cone said.
"At least we're back in it. Go down 3-0, that was it. This was our do-or-die game, we felt. So we got another do-or-die game on Thursday," he added.
