Filipino boxer "King" Arthur Villanueva came up short in his bid for the WBC Bantamweight World Championship, losing to French-Morocca reigning titleholder Nordine Oubaali, winning via TKO in the sixth round of their clash at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan, Saturday evening.
Oubaali dominated the ALA Boxing Promotions product for much of the bout before getting the stoppage win for his first successful title defense.
The 32-year old Oubaali captured the vacant WBC title against Rau'shee Warren back in January. Oubaali remains undefeated in 16 professional bouts with 12 wins coming via stoppage.
Bago City's Villanueva on the other hand, falls to 32-4-1 in his career, while falling short in his third crack at a world championship.
