Nonong Araneta named Chief d'Mission for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Philippine Football Federation President Mariano "Nonong" Araneta has been appointed as Chief d'Mission to the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. 

Araneta's appointment was made during the first General Assembly of the Philippine Olympic Committee under newly-elected president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino. 

Tolentino himself was the one to appoint Araneta to the Chief d'Mission role. 

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will begin on July 24th, 2020. 

A former football national team member and coach, Araneta has served as the PFF's president since 2010.

In 2017, Araneta became one of four members from the Asian Football Confederation in the FIFA Council. 

Other appointments during the POC's first General Assembly included Stephen Hontiveros as Chairman, Atty. Edwin Gastanes as Secretary-General, and Sonny Barrios as 2nd Deputy Secretary General in charge of Administrative Matters.
