The Washington Wizards know they will be without John Wall until at least late in 2019-20 after their star point guard had surgery on his left Achilles earlier this year. Tomas Satoransky, who has been Wall's top backup, is reportedly on his way to the Chicago Bulls in another deal.

No matter what happens with Satoransky, the Wizards have given themselves some form of point guard insurance by reportedly reaching a deal with veteran guard Ish Smith. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic,  Smith has agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal.

Smith, a journeyman in the NBA, has become a solid backup point guard over the last few seasons. He spent the past three seasons with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in 219 games during that span.
