By now, it’s no longer a matter of if Scottie Thompson will deliver another triple-double, but a matter of when again.
On Friday at the San Juan Arena, the answer to that was today as the reigning MVP turned in a 21-point, 10-assist, 10-rebound performance to lead University of Perpetual Help to their 10th win of the season.
It was Thompson’s sixth triple-double in 14 games this season and it cannot be stressed enough that his all-around greatness should be of no surprise anymore. Perhaps his head coach put it in the best way by saying, “Magugulat ako kung hindi siya mag-triple-double.”
Aric del Rosario, with a coaching career spanning over four decades, said that the Altas’ main man is one of the most coachable players he has ever had. “Mabait, very humble, at mahal niya ang teammates niya,” he said.
Asked if he was surprised with his own individual feats, Thompson answered with his usual humble statement: “Trabaho lang ulit.”
Apparently, the reigning MVP’s all-around work extends even to Perpetual practices. “Hindi na rin kami nagugulat kasi ganyan din yan sa practice, ginagawa lahat,” GJ Ylagan told ABS-CBN Sports.
