Clearly, College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills has been setting the standard in the last two years in the NCAA Juniors.
That much is evident in the Mythical Team of Season 94 which has three Junior Blazers.
Alongside MVP Joel Cagulangan, double-double machine Inand Fornilos and do-it-all swingman Joshua David are in the top five of the league’s top individual players.
Cagulangan averaged 18.7 points, 7.1 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals; Fornilos normed 12.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.1 assists; and David posted per game counts of 14.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals in LSGH’s 16-2 run in the elimination round.
Joining them in the Mythical Team are Arellano High School’s Aaron Fermin and Mapua High School’s Clint Escamis.
Fermin, who topped the MVP race but did not win the award because his team did not make the Final Four, averaged 15.6 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. This is the second straight season he would have to settle for a Mythical selection because the Braves did not make it past the elimination round.
Meanwhile, Escamis normed 18.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 steals in just 13 games played. He missed the Red Robins’ last four games in the elimination round due to a left knee injury.
