Emilio Aguinaldo College came out of the gates with guns ablaze, Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre, and ultimately gunned down favored San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 79-75, to shake up the standings in the NCAA 95 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Kriss Gurtiza played the game of his life with 16 points on top of seven rebounds while Marwin Taywan and JP Maguliano steadied the ship in the endgame as the Generals slayed their second giant of the season.

The San Marcelino-based squad took control right from tip-off and was in command for majority of the matchup, even going up by 12 at one point.

Of course, the Golden Stags charged right back and Allyn Bulanadi shot them into tying the tally at 73-all with 43.6 ticks to go on the clock.

At the other end, however, Maguliano cleaned up a miss from the midrange by Taywan and also fished for a foul.

The veteran forward botched his bonus, but Gurtiza got the offensive rebound and, not long after, the shot clock was winding down to only two seconds.

Only, JM Calma inexplicably fouled Taywan and there, he converted his couple of charities to put his team up, 77-73, with 4.8 seconds left.

RK Ilagan hit a floater afterward, but back at the other end, EAC's heady guard yet again made good on both free throws, the last of his 16-point effort on top of four rebounds and three assists.

In the end, Maguliano had seven points and 15 rebounds while Jethro Mendoza also found the range with 15 markers to his name.

This is only the second win in 13 games for the Generals, but their victims include playoff hopefuls in Baste and Lyceum of the Philippines University.

On the other hand, San Sebastian suffered its second straight setback and now finds itself on even ground with Mapua University for the fourth and final playoff berth.

Bulanadi topped the scoring column for them with 28 points while Ilagan wound up with 10 markers, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
