"I am developing two special techniques right now and I am excited to show them," - Geje Eustaquio

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio is now working double-time as closely studies Yuya "Little Piranha" Wakamatsu while getting himself in tip-top shape ahead of their newly announced showdown.

The pair of high level strikers are set to compete in a ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix alternate bout which will happen at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES on 2 August at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

“Now I am starting to unveil more of his style cause I’m looking at him closely now, unlike before where I settle with what I usually see in the cage,” said Eustaquio.

“He’s a great kid, and considering that the match is 27 days away, I will focus on getting better so I’m in a hundred percent fighting shape on August.”

Wakamatsu is widely known for packing dynamite in both hands.

While he lost his debut in The Home of Martial Arts via unanimous decision against Danny "The King" Kingad at ONE: CONQUEST OF HEROES last September, he showcased his devastating power when he knocked down the Filipino with a single right hand.

In his last bout, Wakamatsu held his own against pound-for-pound great Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson before falling short by second-round submission in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix quarterfinals at ONE: A NEW ERA last March.

While acknowledging his foe’s power, Eustaquio said that mixed martial arts is way more than that.

"I think yes he has the power, but sometimes you have to be complete. He has the power, but they also say timing beats power. He’s not impossible to beat, I can beat this kid," said the Team Lakay star.

"He is a sharp striker and of course, his power is a big factor. But I will find my way. I will find a hole in his game then capitalize on it.”

While "Gravity" refused to predict how his next bout would end, he revealed that he is in the process of mastering a couple of new techniques that he plans to showcase in front of his Filipino fans.

"I am developing two special techniques right now and I am excited to show them," he said.  "I hope I can polish and perfect it before August 2 comes."
