Prior to becoming ONE Championship's one and only heavyweight king, Fil-American star Brandon "The Truth" Vera had already made a name for himself in in the MMA world during his run with the UFC.

During his run with the North American promotion, Vera had shared the stage with a number of big-name stars including world champions such as Frank Mir, Randy Couture, Shogun Rua, and even Jon Jones, and while things weren't always smooth sailing there, Vera always had the respect of the fans because of his fighting style.

As it turns out, Vera will be facing off against one of his fans this Sunday at ONE: Century.

Vera, the reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion, will be moving down in weight to face two-division world champion "The Burmese Python" Aung La N Sang for the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship in the main event of the second half of the two-part mega-event.

As Aung La revealed during Thursday evening's pre-event press conference, he has been a long-time fan of "The Truth". "I want to thank Brandon Vera for asking me for this fight. I’ve been a big fan of his since I was in college, 10 years ago."

Vera's 2009 run was one of the better ones of his career, scoring back-to-back victories before losing a close decision to Couture in a bout that many people believe he should have won.

From watching one of idols to actually facing him for a title ten years later, Aung La hopes that his example, can be a source of hope and motivation for his countrymen in Myanmar.

"Ten years ago, I watched Brandon Vera on TV, I was rooting for him. I was a big fan of his, and to be standing across the cage from him on Sunday shows you that you can do anything when you put your heart and your mind into it, so that’s how I want to inspire Myanmar."
