Magnolia has finally tied its 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series against Rain or Shine after a 94-91 win in Game 4 Monday.
However, the Hotshots almost blew the game away after losing a 21-point lead late in the fourth.
Magnolia was only up by one with less than five seconds to go before the Hotshots ran a play to get to the free throw line. Jio Jalalon made two and the team was able to stop Rain or Shine on the other end to keep the win.
“At the end of the day, a win is a win,” guard Paul Lee said as they lost all of a 21-point cushion before holding on for a three-point victory.
“But we need to learn from that, we need to be ready. Kasi lahat sinubukan nila [ROS] kanina, parang nangyari nothing to lose na so nadalian sila kumilos. We need to be better sa next game,” he added.
If there’s someone at Magnolia who would know a thing or two about Rain or Shine, it’s Paul Lee without a doubt.
So as this series moves to a pivotal Game 5, Lee warns his Hotshots to stay on their toes. After all, they just barely won to force a 2-2 tie.
This best-of-7 showdown could still turn either way and the Elasto Painters have the weapons to swing the balance in their favor.
“Maganda kasi panalo pero wag pa kami pasigurado pa rin kasi Rain or Shine, sobrang delikado na team,” Lee said.
“Kilala ko yung team na yan, sa ngayon iniisip lang nila na na-tie lang namin yung series, okay pa sila. Hindi sila magpa-panic. We need to be ready and kailangan mag-adjust sa mga bago nilang ginagawa,” he added.
