Barroca hit the game-winning jumper as time expired Friday, leading the Hotshots to a pulsating 88-86 Game 5 win.

In one of the the craziest Finals games of all time, Mark Barroca was calm under pressure to put Magnolia on the brink of ending the greatest All-Filipino dynasty ever.

Barroca hit the game-winning jumper as time expired Friday, leading the Hotshots to a pulsating 88-86  Game 5 win over defending champion San Miguel Beer in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals at the Big Dome.

Game 5 was momentarily halted with around three minutes to go in the fourth as a fan dressed as Spider-Man stormed the court and hit five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.

After the incident, the Beermen recovered from a 78-84 deficit to tie the game at 86-all. However, San Miguel failed to cash in for a go-ahead basket in its last possession.

Magnolia did courtesy of Barroca and the Hotshots now lead the best-of-7 series, 3-2.

“It was in God’s hands and it was a miracle shot,” head coach Chito Victolero of Barroca’s game-winning jumper.

“It was a grind-out win, and it boiled down to possession after possession. It boiled down to a last shot: Mark Barroca… I love that guy, he’s not afraid to shoot any last shot in the ball game,” he added.

Despite leading by as many as 16 points, Magnolia had to weather several runs by the Beermen including one late in the fourth quarter as San Miguel capitalized on the distraction caused by a streaker on court.

In each of the Beermen run, it was Barroca that managed to steady the ship for the Hotshots and it was only fitting that it was him that nailed the final dagger for a 3-2 series lead.

Barroca led all scorers with 22 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.

Ian Sangalang added 18 for Magnolia was Paul Lee was good for 12 points.

June Mar Fajardo went to wor with 21 points and 22 rebounds for the Beermen and Marcio Lassiter was scored another 20.

However, San Miguel shot poorly from the field as a team, connecting on only 29 percent of their shots.
