Meralco is on the board in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Bolts zapped a pesky Columbian team, picking up a 101-92 victory Friday at the Big Dome.
It was a nice bounce back effort from Meralco who lost an overtime decision to Blackwater Sunday. The Bolts got up to 1-1 for the conference with the win.
The Dyip dropped to 0-2 for the mid-season joust.
“It’s always good to get that first win under your belt. We lost a really tough game last time out in overtime. We even had a chance to win it in regulation but we couldn’t make the shot,” head coach Norman Black said.
“Today we played a lot better offensively and defensively. I think our team worked on offense, particularly with Gani not really dominating the offense this time,” he added.
Despite giving up 36 points in the third quarter, one more than the amount they gave up in the first half, the Bolts were in control the whole game, building a 17-point lead at one point.
All five starters scored in double figures for Meralco led by import Gani Lawal with 25 points on top of 27 rebounds.
Baser Amer added 21 points while rookie Trevis Jackson was good for another 17.
Columbian got 26 points from import Kyle Barone while top pick CJ Perez contributed 22 in a losing effort.
