PBA: Ferrer missed matching up with “bespren” Parks Jr.

Both young wings finally got the chance to meet on-court Friday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and Ferrer got his chance to mark down Parks once again.

Back when they were playing in the UAAP for UST and NU respectively, Kevin Ferrer and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. went to war a lot of times.

In almost all cases, it was the two of them that matched up.

In the case of the Growling Tigers, the lanky Ferrer was the perfect foil for the Bulldogs’ MVP in Parks Jr.

Both young wings finally got the chance to meet on-court Friday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and Ferrer got his chance to mark down Parks once again.

“Ah, si bespren,” Ferrer said.

“Wala lang, masaya ulit na mabantayan siya. Ayun, na-miss ko lang siya bantayan,” he added.

It’s been a while since they both played against each other and Ferrer certainly took note of the differences his rival went through on the court.

Parks Jr. is a different beast now. He got better, a lot.

“Malaking pagbabago eh, maraming na-develop sa kanya, yung mga decision [making] niya [nagbago],” Ferrer said.

Ferrer and his Growling Tigers took down Parks’ NU Bulldogs multiple times in the UAAP back in the days but Ray gets the last laugh this time as his Blackwater Elite beat Ginebra in overtime.

When they meet again, Ferrer hopes to get back his win but he makes sure to note that his matchup with Parks is nothing personal.

It’s just an assignment.

“First game pa lang naman eh. Pag magka-harap ulit, sana manalo na,” Ferrer said.

“Trabaho lang, trabaho na to eh. Kailangan ko lang gawin trabaho ko, gawin ko yung best ko,” he added.
