John Fields didn't have the best of debuts for Magnolia inthe 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The former Columbian reinforcement played 30 minutes for the Hotshots Wednesday against Alaska. He grabbed six rebounds and scored only 14 points on 36 percent shooting.
Magnolia lost by 23 to the Aces.
"Not what I wanted. You know, Alaska done got me two years in a row coming in and they done beat me by a lot. So it's not what I wanted," Fields said.
"Disappointed in the result, disappointed in the way I played, but we got some more games coming up so we can bounce back," he added.
The high-scoring import actually has some minor injury that he's currently dealing with.
Head coach Chito Victolero revealed that Fields tweaked his ankle just recently and his opening performance was naturally compromised.
"Actually may problema siya sa ankle niya, two days before our game, na-sprain yung ankle niya. Unfair din naman doon sa import natin, pinilit lang niya maglaro today. Yun lang. We will see," Victolero said.
"I will talk to John on Friday kung ano yung situation ng ankle. Yung games namin na susunod, talagang importante yan. I don't know kung ano pa yung mafi-feel niya doon sa ankle niya but I will try to talk to him on Friday," he added.
The Hotshots don't play again until June 12 so Fields has time to get better.
"I just gotta make my shots around the basket and get my timing and my explosiveness back, and then I'll be fine," he said.
