Columbian put up a fight but TNT’s dominance continues in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The KaTropa were steady in the second half, pulling away late to score a 109-102 win over the Dyip Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
TNT slowly padded its lead in the fourth period, recovering from a poor stretch in the third where Columbian actually took control of the game.
The win was the KaTropa’s fifth straight in the mid-season joust and TNT once again takes over solo first in the Commissioner’s Cup with a strong 7-1 record.
Import Terrence Jones once again put up big numbers for TNT, going for 39 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks.
Jayson Castro returned from a missed game and dropped 22 points, five rebouds, and six assists off the bench. RR Pogoy was the top local starter with 16 points.
TNT had trouble with the Dyip all game long but the KaTropa got a huge run in the fourth, leading by as many as 14 points.
For Columbian, Lester Prosper was good for 37 points and CJ Perez added another 22 markers but it wasn’t enough to pick up what would have been a big win.
Now losers of back-to-back games, the Dyip dropped to 1-5 in the standings.
