June Mar Fajardo is pretty close with Magnolia's Marc Pingris and the league's reigning five-time MVP for San Miguel Beer relished the fact that he got to see his buddy back on the court Wednesday.
As the Beermen and the Hotshots battled it out in the 2019 Commissioner's Cup, Fajardo and Ping were finally in a game together for the first time in over a year.
The San Miguel game was Pingris' second assignment following a long recovery from ACL injury.
After a scoreless comeback last week against Phoenix, Pingris was good for six points and four rebounds this time while getting 13 minutes of play.
"Biruan lang. Na-miss namin ang isa't isa, ang tagal naming hindi nakalaro eh," Fajardo said of Pingris.
"Sayang talo kami," he added after Ping's Magnolia beat him and his Beermen by 36 points.
Ping wasn't the only factor why San Miguel got thoroughly dismantled by Magnolia but Fajardo admits that his on-court presence gives the Hotshots that extra edge.
But while he took the loss this time, June Mar is just happy his friend is back.
"Syempre, malaking morale booster yun sa kanila na nakabalik si Ping. Alam natin yung ano yung kayang ibigay ni Ping, di lang scoring kundi yung hustle, energy, at leadership niya," Fajardo said.
"Masaya ako na nakabalik siya," June Mar added.
