Getting that first winning streak for the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup has been a challenge for Phoenix.
At 3-4, the Fuel Masters are having a hard time getting any sort of momentum going.
Despite coming off a big win against top-ranked Northport Wednesday, the challenge of getting a winning run won't get any easier for Phoenix as they take on defending champion Ginebra Friday.
The Gin Kings are tough enough but they reloaded last week with a blockbuster trade which makes things all the more difficult for the Fuel Masters.
"Yeah I heard they traded for some guy, he’s pretty good," Phoenix guard Matthew Wright said on the Gin Kings that now have Stanley Pringle.
"Ginebra is Ginebra, you’re gonna have to keep the crowd quiet as much as possible and you’re gonna have to play straight up defense," he added.
Now sporting a Brownlee-Pringle duo, Ginebra has become even more dynamic. Wright knows that but he also knows that he and his Fuel Masters are a problem as well.
"They’re a big squad now and with Stanley, they’re a lot more explosive and dynamic. We also have to worry about Brownlee as well," Wright said.
"We have our work cut out for us but they have to guard us too," he added
