NLEX is pretty much done in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Road Warriors are just at 2-7 in the mid-season joust even after a nice win over Rain or Shine Friday at the Big Dome.
Still, NLEX is not letting a lost conference be put to waste as the Road Warriors are already starting their preparaions for the 2019 Governors' Cup.
NLEX has brought back import Olu Ashaolu and every game is a chance for new guy Jericho Cruz to mesh well with his new teammates. Behind the scenes, the Road Warriors also now have star guard Kiefer Ravena back in practice.
"We treat this as a learning experience for the rest of the guys — Olu coming in to be our import in the next conference and also Jericho getting used to his teammates," head coach Yeng Guiao after the win against ROS.
"Ito na lang yung mga takeaways namin dito sa last few games namin," he added.
NLEX will try to go all in for the Governors' Cup and Ravena's eventual return could be the boost the team needs.
The Phenom can't fully join the Road Warriors just yet but team practices have leveled up with him back.
"Yung practice namin, mas naging intense yung practice namin because that’s what Kiefer really brings to the practices. He’s very intense in the practices and it rubs off the rest of his teammates," Guiao said.
"I think that’s one good thing he brings even if he’s not physically present in the games but he’s able to set the tone even in our practices," he added.
