Alex Cabagnot’s very first assist during Wednesday’s win over Phoenix in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup allowed him to pass Ronnie Magsanoc in the all-time career assists list.
Cabagnot took over the 7th spot from Magsanoc.
With now a total of 3,232 assists, Cabagnot has more dimes than any other active player in the PBA today.
“I just wanna say a quick shoutout to all my teammates, to all my coaches in the last 14 years from Sta. Lucia, Coca-Cola, Burger King, Petron, Globalport, and San Miguel,” Cabagnot said.
“All those guys, all my teammates, everybody else. Thank you for making those shots for me for those assists,” he added.
Cabagnot says he doesn’t even have time to celebrate his latest career achievement.
Despite back-to-back wins, his San Miguel Beermen are at 4-5 in the team standings and are fighting for a playoff spot in the Commissioner’s Cup.
“It’s not sinking in yet kasi we’re still 4-5. Pero those things are for my parents and my family. At the moment it’s not for me, it’s for them sila pwede mag-celebrate,” Cabagnot said.
“My mind is somewhere else, my mindset is to continue our playoff campaign and make a good showing for our playoff campaign,” he added.
