Northport has made one final play for the top overall seed of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Rookie Robert Bolick made sure to get a proper game-winner this time around as his final go-ahead layup allowed Northport to take a pulsating 93-92 victory over Meralco Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Down one, the Batang Pier got Bolick the ball and the no. 3 pick drove hard to the basket, calmy sinking a layup for a 93-92 lead with three seconds to go.
Northport then got a stop on the other end to secure the victory.
The win pushed the Batang Pier to a 9-2 record to end the elimination round, which is still good for second place for the moment. However, Northport takes over first place if TNT loses to Magnolia next week.
Regardless, the Batang Pier will enter the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat advantage.
