Despite facing a Northport team with a twice-to-beat advantage in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, San Miguel’s confidence never wavered.
As far as the seventh-ranked Beermen were considered, whether they were in a true series or not, they need two wins to advance to the semifinals.
They got one Sunday at the Big Dome after escaping elimination with a 98-84 win over Northport.
Same thing,” Santos said.
“Ngayon naka-isa kami, sa Wednesday sana makuha namin yung pangalawa,” he added.
The Beermen won big based on the final score but they certainly worked for this one.
San Miguel was only up one late, 82-81, and with rookie Robert Bolick heating up for Northport, the Batang Pier were in position to eliminate the Beermen from the mid-season joust.
Then the Beermen unloaded a 16-0 blast to put the game out of reach.
“Kita naman natin dikdikan, muntik pa kami nung huli,” Arwind said.
