PBA: Alaska still has life after surviving Northport

Alaska still has life.

The Aces picked up a crucial victory Sunday at the Big Dome, surviving Northport in the 2019 PPBA Governors’ Cup, 106-99.

Posting back-to-back wins for the first time in the tournament, Alaska improved to 3-6 and is still pretty much in the playoff race.

The Aces got big games from Vic Manuel and import Franko House, who both finished with double-doubles.

Manuel had 23 points and 10 rebounds while House was good for also 23 points and 11 boards. Rookie Abu Tratter had another solid outing, scoring 17 points.

It was a two-man game for Northport with Christian Standhardinger scorign a career-high 37 points on to of 16 rebounds.

Import Michael Qualls dropped 35 points and 15 rebounds too but no other Batang Pier cracked double figures. Northport dropped to 3-5 with the loss.

Alaska 106 - House 23, Manuel 23, Tratter 17, Teng 13, Enciso 8, Casio 7, Racal 6, Thoss 4, Ahanmisi 4, Pascual 1,  Ayaay 0.

NorthPort 99 - Standhardinger 37, Qualls 35, Anthony 8, Lanete 8, Casio 7, King 5, Ferrer 3, Taha 2, Elorde 1, Cruz 0, Escoto 0.

Quarterscores: 28-29, 53-48, 83-76, 106-99.
